    Shredded Carrot

    TRUE JUICE

    Proof of concept designed for True Juice Organic Juice Bar & Cafe in Grants Pass, Oregon. The design included sweat bands, a chomp taken out of it, & a produce sticker featuring the brand logo.

    Shredded Carrot was designed to capture True Juice’s vegan ethos and commitment to perseverance, and the role it plays as a community arts and fitness hub.

    Designed and created character key art and logos for Capital One Park in Tysons, VA, based on the ballpark’s mascot, Bruno the Bear.

    Capital One Park has implemented my designs throughout their brand for advertisements, merchandise, and giveaway items like rally towels.

    They’ve even been featured on the jumbotron!

    Proof of concept designed for Photo Creations Studios in Medford, Oregon. The design included a functional camera in the nose, a working screen in the tummy, and LED ring lights for ears.

    Selfie Bear was designed to capture the literal essence of what the business does, while simultaneously providing an interactive, deeply whimsical experience to potential fans and customers.

Hootie’s Mascot Makeover

A Complete Program Redesign

  • I started with 10+ years of experience knowing what professional mascot suits should look and feel like, but “we need a better suit” wasn’t enough to get leadership on board. Eventually, I reframed the ask around Oregon Tech’s real priorities: professionalism, brand recognition, durability, and the opportunity to make a splash during the university’s 75th anniversary.

    That shift helped turn Hootie’s makeover from a wish-list item into a funded program investment.

  • When I started, most of Hootie’s history and procedures lived in people’s heads.

    I interviewed staff and alumni, searched school archives, and worked with industry peers to create a comprehensive mascot handbook covering performance procedures, costume care, repairs, character history, and consistency standards.

    The result was a stronger, more sustainable program where future performers didn’t have to start from square one every year.

  • I helped take Hootie from a generic, off-the-shelf suit to a fully realized character with distinct features, branded clothing, and a personality fans could actually connect with.

    Through live performances, social media, merchandise, mascot training, and community appearances, I developed Hootie into a recognizable part of Oregon Tech’s identity.

    Mascots have a unique ability to make a brand feel alive. Hootie helped show people that Oregon Tech exists, knows what it’s doing, and has a whole lot of heart.

  • I worked with The Mascot Company (yes, that’s the actual name!) to redesign and manufacture a brand-new suit for Hootie the Hustlin’ Owl.

    The redesign included a lightweight build, street-appropriate feet for safer use across different surfaces, custom branded clothing, and internal headgear that kept the performer secure while allowing for athletic movement and expressive performance.

    I served as the bridge between performer needs, institutional priorities, and manufacturer expertise, helping translate what Hootie needed to do into a suit that could actually support it.

    After multiple rounds of feedback and refinement, we landed on a design Oregon Tech continues to use to this day.

  • Hootie’s makeover didn’t just result in a new suit. It helped create a stronger mascot program with clearer standards, better documentation, stronger brand recognition, and more opportunities for future performers.
